A volume discount inside the configurator
Ten percent from the fifth item on - and the customer sees it before reaching the cart.
Anyone who assembles a set should be rewarded for it. The only questions are when - and whether the customer finds out before they reach the cart. The plugin does both: it can tie a discount to a threshold and show the progress towards it.
The plugin help text, verbatim
Threshold
Here you can define a threshold from which the specified rebate becomes valid. A threshold can either be based on a selected quantity ("select at least 5 products") or on a sum of selected products ("select products worth at least 100 EUR"). Additionally, the scope determines whether the selection is counted across the entire configurator or individually per stream.
Two scopes, two conditions
| Setting | Choice | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Scope | Per configurator | Everything is counted together. Once the threshold is reached, the rebate applies to all groups. |
| Scope | Per stream | Every group has to reach the threshold on its own. |
| Condition | Quantity | What is counted is how many products are selected. |
| Condition | Price | What is counted is the value of the selection. |
The notice under the selection is a setting of its own: Show hint. It tells the customer how far they are from the threshold, as a message and/or as a graphical bar. Without it the discount eventually kicks in without comment and nobody knows why.
Discounts on three levels
On the configurator
One percentage for the whole combination. The parent product can optionally be excluded from it.
On the individual stream
Every group can carry its own rebate. That way accessories get more off than the main device.
Tied to a threshold
The rebate only applies above a quantity or a sum - counted either across everything or per group.
What does not count
Two things stay out of the threshold, and the help text says so. The parent product counts towards neither the quantity nor the sum. With scope “per stream” it is always rebated anyway, with “per configurator” only if the condition is met.
Percentage surcharges do not count either - and they are never rebated. That follows: a surcharge on the configuration would otherwise inflate itself and then be cut back again.
Check how it combines with other discounts
A configurator rebate is not the only thing that can act on a cart. Vouchers, promotions and customer group prices come on top. Work through a real cart before you switch a threshold on - especially when the parent product is excluded from the rebate.
